Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting by working as a reporter at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she worked at WCBD as a morning anchor and crime reporter. The articles written by O'Dell in Charleston, about how the Charleston police dealt with DUI cases with care, led to an inquiry by State Law Enforcement Division. The inquiry led to a stronger direction for state officials. Ms. O'Dell received the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell's work in Charleston has led to her serving as a co-anchor, reporter as well as NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Before she joined Access Hollywood she was a co-anchor on weekdays as well as the weekend anchor for NBC. O'Dell's current role as a host on Access Hollywood is complemented by her work on NBC News Today, Dateline NBC and NBC News. She's been a reporter for The Oscars The Emmys The Grammys The Golden Globe Awards and co-hosted numerous pre-show arrivals show in preparation for The Emmys And The Golden Globes. She co-hosted both the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
